When you buy an art print you usually have two choices: an unframed poster that you frame yourself, or a framed print that arrives ready to hang. Neither is “better” — they suit different situations. Here is how to decide.

Choose an unframed poster if…

  • You already have frames or want to match a frame style you already use at home.
  • You want a special frame — a colored frame, a wide white mat, or a museum-style frame from a local framer.
  • You want to spend less on the print itself.
  • You like to change your art often. Posters are easy to swap and store.

Our posters are printed on heavy paper with a clean white border, so they are ready to go into a standard frame.

Choose a framed print if…

  • You want it on the wall the day it arrives, with no trip to the framer.
  • You are buying a gift. A framed print is a complete present that needs nothing else.
  • You want a large size. Framing big pieces yourself can be expensive and hard to do well.

Our framed prints come assembled with hanging hardware, so you only need a nail or hook.

Which frame color?

  • Black: clean and modern. Works with abstract art and strong colors, and in white or grey rooms.
  • Dark wood: warm and classic. Works with landscapes, still lifes and Impressionist paintings, and with wooden furniture.

A simple rule: if you can’t decide, choose the frame that matches other wood or metal in the room — your table legs, shelves or lamp.

Looking after your print

Whichever you choose, hang it away from direct sunlight and away from bathrooms or kitchens with lots of steam. This keeps the colors fresh for longer.

Each product page shows the options available for that artwork. Start browsing on our Shop by Artist page — shipping is free on every order.
