About this artwork

A quiet harbor nestles between abstract forms in Ben Nicholson's 45 (St Ives, Cornwall). This 1943 composition balances geometric precision with the organic rhythm of coastal life, creating a visual harmony that feels both deliberate and effortless. The artwork's muted palette of creams, grays, and soft blues suggests the weathered charm of a seaside village. Angular shapes intersect with gentle curves, evoking the interplay of land and water. Linear elements divide the composition, guiding the eye through the scene with quiet authority. This print brings a sense of calm structure to a study or living area, its understated elegance complementing both modern and traditional spaces.
