About this artwork
A parade of confections fills the frame in Wayne Thiebaud's Cakes And Pies. This 1995 work stacks layers of visual delight, each sweet treat rendered with care and precision.
The composition balances cool minty hues against warm caramel tones. Shadows anchor the scene, giving weight to the frosted cakes and flaky pies. Thiebaud's signature crosshatching technique adds texture, making the icing appear almost tactile. The careful arrangement suggests abundance without excess.
This poster brings a sense of celebration to kitchens or dining areas where food and art are equally appreciated.
