About this artwork
An ancient stone church stands in solitude. This is Cattolica of Stilo Calabria, a lithograph by M.C. Escher from 1930. The structure's weathered facade speaks of centuries past, its simplicity belying the intricate craftsmanship within. The church's rounded arches and square tower rise against a stark, empty background. Escher's precise lines capture the texture of aged stone, while the play of light and shadow adds depth to the scene. The absence of human presence lends an air of quiet reverence, as if time itself has paused to admire the enduring beauty of this architectural gem. This poster brings a sense of history and tranquility to any room. It suits spaces dedicated to reflection and calm.Questions about Cattolica Of Stilo Calabria
