About this artwork
A whole chocolate cake rests on a plate, inviting and rich. Wayne Thiebaud's *Chocolate Cake* from 1971 is a study in indulgence, with thick layers of frosting and a dark, velvety texture that seems almost edible.
The cake sits alone, its shadow casting a soft outline beneath. The background is a muted, almost neutral tone, allowing the deep browns and creamy whites of the cake to dominate. Thiebaud's signature use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth, making the cake appear as if it's ready to be sliced and served.
This poster brings a sense of warmth and comfort to any kitchen or dining area.
