About this artwork
White squares fill the canvas in Convention, a study in repetition and restraint. Robert Ryman's work challenges the viewer to find depth in simplicity, to see variation in what first appears uniform. The grid of squares, each slightly different, creates a rhythm across the surface. Some squares overlap, others stand alone, their edges soft or distinct. The longer you look, the more you see. This print rewards quiet contemplation. It belongs in a space where you pause and reflect, like a study or reading nook.Questions about Convention
