About this artwork

A skeletal figure confronts its reflection in Jasper Johns' Corpse and Mirror. This artwork invites viewers into a quiet dialogue between life and its echo, rendered in Johns' signature style that blurs the line between object and symbol. The composition is sparse yet haunting. A skull rests on a surface, its hollow eyes meeting the gaze of its mirrored counterpart. The background is a field of muted tones, allowing the stark imagery to command attention. Johns' treatment of texture and shadow adds depth, making the skeletal form appear both fragile and enduring. This print suits a study or library, where its contemplative presence can be fully appreciated.
