About this artwork
Two overlapping circles hover in a field of muted ochre. This is Figure Eight, an exploration of form and space by Adolph Gottlieb. The simplicity of the composition draws the viewer in, inviting contemplation. The upper circle, a deep cobalt blue, contrasts with the lower one, a warm terracotta. They float, anchored by a thin black line that bisects the canvas. The background, a textured expanse of pale ochre, provides a quiet counterpoint to the vivid circles. This poster brings focus to a study or library, where its meditative balance complements quiet reflection.Questions about Figure Eight
