About this artwork
A quaint village nestles beneath rolling hills. This is Gelmeroda, a serene landscape captured by Lyonel Feininger in 1936. The artwork presents a harmonious blend of nature and architecture, where the simplicity of rural life meets the artist's unique vision.
Feininger's signature prismatic style fragments the scene into crystalline planes of light and shadow. The muted palette of ochres, greens, and blues creates a calming effect, while the angular forms of houses and trees add a dynamic rhythm. The composition balances the organic flow of the landscape with the geometric precision of cubist influences.
This poster brings a sense of tranquility and order to a study or living area, inviting contemplation and appreciation of the subtle beauty in everyday scenes.
