About this artwork

A single green square pulses at the center of this artwork. "Green Square - Op Art" by Thomas Downing plays with perception, drawing the eye inward with its simplicity and depth. The square seems to hover, its edges sharp against the softer background. The surrounding space is not empty but alive with subtle variations in tone. These shifts create a sense of movement, as if the square itself is breathing. The interplay of light and shadow around the edges adds to the dynamic tension, making the static form feel almost kinetic. This poster suits a quiet corner or a study, where its quiet intensity can be appreciated without competition.
