About this artwork
A flowing ribbon of color unfolds across the canvas in Brice Marden's Gulf, From New York Ten (Lewison 16). This minimalist artwork draws the eye along a sinuous path of muted tones, creating a sense of quiet movement within stillness. The composition is deceptively simple, with a single, unbroken line that meanders across a neutral background. The line itself is a study in variation, its width and intensity shifting subtly as it traverses the canvas. The palette is restrained, dominated by soft ochres and pale grays that lend the piece an understated elegance. This print finds its place in spaces that benefit from contemplative art, such as a study or a quiet corner of a living room.Questions about Gulf, From New York Ten (Lewison 16)
