About this artwork
The Breton lagoon shimmers under Lapicque's hand in this 1959 work. Lagune Bretonne captures a quiet moment where water meets land, sky meets sea, and colors blend into one another with a softness that belies the artist's bold technique. The composition balances cool blues and greens with warm ochres, creating a sense of depth and distance. Lapicque's brushstrokes are both deliberate and fluid, suggesting the gentle movement of water and the stillness of the land. The horizon line is low, emphasizing the vastness of the sky and the expanse of the lagoon. This print brings a sense of calm and openness to any space, making it ideal for a study or bedroom where tranquility is desired.Questions about Lagune Bretonne
