About this artwork
A thick slice of lemon cake sits on a plate, inviting and bright. This is Wayne Thiebaud's Lemon Cake, a celebration of the simple and sweet things in life. The artwork captures the essence of a moment, frozen in time, where a slice of cake becomes the star of the show. The painting is a study in texture and color. The cake itself is a pale yellow, with a thick layer of frosting that Thiebaud renders in thick, buttery strokes. The plate on which it sits is a cool blue, providing a striking contrast to the warm tones of the cake. The background is a soft, muted pink, allowing the cake to command attention. This poster brings a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to any kitchen or dining area. It's a reminder of the joy found in life's simple pleasures.Questions about Lemon Cake
