About this artwork
Delicate violet hues dance across the canvas in Sam Francis's Light Violet (lembark L20). This painting is a quiet celebration of color and form. The pure white background is interrupted by soft lilac and deep violet tones. The paint is applied in loose shapes, sometimes allowing the unpainted ground to show through. The colors are luminous and enveloping. The violet forms are balanced between fluid and controlled. A real space complements this poster, perhaps a study or bedroom.
