About this artwork
The title hints at a sequence, a fragment of something larger. Number 107 is part of Reinhardt's exploration into the essence of painting itself. This artwork challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface and find meaning in the subtle variations of color and form. The composition is a study in restraint, with a grid of squares in varying shades of blue and red. The colors are muted, almost whispering to each other across the canvas. The squares are arranged in a precise grid, creating a sense of order and tranquility. The interplay of colors and the careful arrangement of squares draw the eye in, inviting contemplation. This poster finds its place in a study or a quiet corner of a living room, where one can take the time to appreciate its nuances.Questions about Number 107
