About this artwork
A delicate lattice of fabric and paper emerges in Anne Ryan's Number 159. This collage whispers rather than shouts, its quiet complexity drawing you in for a closer look. The interplay of textures is subtle yet undeniable, with faded floral patterns peeking through layers of aged paper and frayed cloth. Ryan’s composition balances restraint and detail, the neutral palette punctuated by hints of ochre and umber. The irregular edges of each fragment create a gentle rhythm across the surface, like a well-worn path through an overgrown garden. This print suits a study or reading nook, where its understated presence can be appreciated without competition.
