About this artwork
A wave rises, curling over itself in a froth of white and blue. Avery’s Onrushing Wave captures the moment before the break, when the sea holds its breath. The water is alive here, not just a force of nature but a character in a drama played out on canvas. The wave, a study in blues and whites, dominates the scene, its energy palpable even in stillness. The background is a muted ochre, providing a warm contrast to the cool tones of the wave. Avery’s brushstrokes are visible, adding texture and depth to the scene. The wave, rendered in broad strokes, seems to move across the canvas, its motion almost audible. The painting is a study in contrast, the dynamic wave set against the calm, almost serene, background. This poster brings a piece of the sea into your home, perfect for a study or a quiet corner where contemplation is welcome.Questions about Onrushing Wave
