About this artwork
A woman’s face emerges from the canvas, her features both bold and delicate. Pygmalion, painted in 1979, is a testament to Norman Bluhm’s ability to intertwine the human form with abstract expressionism.
The background is a flurry of warm ochre and deep reds, with sweeping strokes that create a sense of movement. The woman’s face, rendered in softer hues, stands in stark contrast to the chaotic energy surrounding her. Bluhm’s use of bold lines and crosshatching adds depth and texture, drawing the eye into the painting.
This poster brings a sense of artistic depth to any room. It’s ideal for spaces where you want to inspire contemplation and conversation.
