About this artwork
Crimson blooms spill across the canvas in Sam Gilliam's Red Petals. This artwork is a celebration of color and movement, where the petals seem to dance and sway, creating a sense of rhythm and energy.
The composition is a symphony of reds, from deep burgundy to bright scarlet, interspersed with hints of ochre and cobalt. The petals, some solid, some translucent, overlap and intertwine, creating a sense of depth and texture. The background is a stark white, providing a contrast that makes the colors pop and the petals stand out.
