About this artwork
A single red star commands the canvas in Carmen Herrera's Red Star. This bold geometric form sits alone, its edges sharp against the white field. The star is not perfectly centered, giving the composition a sense of movement and tension. The red is flat and unmodulated, a pure expression of color and shape. There is no shading, no hint of depth, just the stark contrast of red on white. The simplicity of the image belies its complexity, inviting contemplation and interpretation. The starkness of the composition makes it a natural fit for a modern living room or a minimalist office space, where its bold simplicity can shine.
