About this artwork
A black void pierces the canvas in Lee Bontecou’s Seventh Stone. The artwork’s title suggests something geological, but the image resists easy categorization. It feels both cosmic and deeply personal, a paradox that draws you in.
The void is framed by intricate textures, almost like fabric or organic matter. Around it, the canvas is a field of muted tones, punctuated by subtle marks and stitching. The contrast between the abyss and the delicate surroundings creates a tension that lingers.
This poster suits a quiet corner or a study, where its details can be examined up close.
