About this artwork
Sporting Life depicts a field in a dreamlike state, a game begins as the player's bat swings. Yet something is amiss. Paul Klee's whimsical forms dominate the scene, their bewildering scales are unexpected. Translucent cones embody both player and ball, while a childlike crosshatch fills the sky as a net. The ballfield's deep ochre is calming, yet the horizon's navy gloom hints at a later storm. This poster suits a thoughtful study or library.
