About this artwork
A solitary thistle bloom commands Still Life With Thistle Bloom, a 1919 artwork by Paul Klee. Its bold, almost cartoonish simplicity is signature Klee. Klee's penchant for playful color is seen in the bright cobalt tablecloth. The vase is depicted simply, but the thistle itself is wonderfully complex. Muted ochre and mossy greens interplay with delicate crosshatching. The stark black outlines lend energy while the blue backdrop calms. This poster suits a modern living room. Its tidy geometry and flowing lines are intriguing.
