About this artwork
A dense forest scene unfolds in this early Kandinsky work. Study For Autumn shows his transition toward abstraction, where nature meets imagination. The trees are not just trees; they are a chorus of vertical lines, each one a character in this autumnal play.
The colors are rich and warm, with ochres and golds dominating the scene. The brushstrokes are loose and expressive, giving the impression of a forest in motion, swaying to the rhythm of an unseen wind. The background is a tapestry of subtle hues, providing a calm contrast to the lively foreground.
This poster brings a touch of the forest indoors, making it ideal for a study or a cozy reading nook.
