About this artwork
The title suggests stillness, yet this artwork by Damien Hirst hums with life. The Dead (racing Green, Island Copper) is a study in contrast, where repetition meets variation.
Rows of circular dots march across the canvas, each one a tiny universe of color. The racing green and island copper hues dominate, punctuated by occasional flashes of brighter tones. The precision of the dots creates a rhythm, a visual pulse that draws the eye across the piece. The effect is both mechanical and organic, as if nature and machine have found a common language.
This poster brings focus to a study or library, where its intricate patterns can be contemplated at leisure.
