About this artwork
A dark circular void anchors the composition in Lee Bontecou’s Thirteenth Stone. This artwork draws the viewer into its depths with an almost gravitational pull, creating a sense of quiet intensity.
The rough texture of the stone contrasts sharply with the smooth, inky blackness of the void. Around it, the canvas is a field of muted tones, almost like weathered parchment. The interplay of light and shadow adds a layer of complexity, making the void appear both flat and infinitely deep.
This poster suits a study or library, where its contemplative presence can be fully appreciated.
