About this artwork
Three American flags appear stacked within each other, creating a layered effect. This is Jasper Johns' Three Flags, a study in repetition and perception. Each flag is slightly smaller than the one beneath it, creating a sense of depth and dimension. The artwork plays with the familiar imagery of the American flag, using encased wax and newspaper clippings. The colors are muted, giving the piece a vintage feel. The texture is rough, adding a tactile element to the visual experience. The flags seem to recede into the background, inviting contemplation. This print suits a study or office, where its intricate details can be appreciated up close.Questions about Three Flags
