About this artwork
A gnarled tree stretches upward, its branches reaching out like skeletal fingers against a pale sky. This is 'Tree,' a woodcut by M.C. Escher, created in 1926. The artwork is a study in contrast, with the stark black of the tree set against the soft, almost luminous background. The tree's twisted trunk and branches dominate the composition, their intricate patterns and textures rendered in fine detail. The background is a soft, almost ethereal blue, providing a stark contrast to the dark, almost menacing tree. The interplay of light and shadow adds depth to the image, creating a sense of three-dimensionality. This print finds its place in a quiet study or a cozy reading nook, where its intricate details can be appreciated up close.Questions about Tree
