About this artwork
A cascade of blue drips down the canvas. Sam Francis's Untitled (from Pasadena Box) lets gravity shape the composition, with color pooling at the bottom edge like water collecting in a basin.
The artwork is a study in fluidity and restraint. Cobalt bleeds into cerulean, creating a gradient that anchors the piece. Above, the negative space is active, not empty—it's where the eye rests between cascades. A single ochre streak interrupts the cool palette, drawing the eye upward.
This print suits a quiet corner where you can trace the drips' paths. It asks for space to breathe, making it ideal for a home library or study.
