About this artwork
A brilliant white void opens in the center, ringed by streaks of cobalt and emerald. Untitled (from Pasadena Box) by Sam Francis draws the eye into its luminous core, where silence and energy coexist. The edges pulse with restrained intensity, as if the colors themselves are barely contained by the canvas.
The composition balances emptiness and action. Cobalt streaks radiate outward, while emerald pools anchor the corners. Splotches of ochre and crimson disrupt the cool tones, adding depth to the visual rhythm. The white center dominates yet feels fragile, as though the surrounding colors might surge inward at any moment.
This poster suits a quiet study or hallway, where its restrained palette and meditative structure can be absorbed gradually over time.
