About this artwork
A man's face, softly lit, gazes out from the canvas in Wayne Thiebaud's self-portrait titled Wayne (255). The artist’s gentle expression invites a quiet connection between viewer and subject, creating an intimate moment frozen in time. Thiebaud’s delicate brushstrokes blend muted tones of cream and soft browns, crafting a serene atmosphere. The background fades into obscurity, drawing focus to the subtle contours of his face. Shadows play gently across his features, adding depth without overpowering the composition. This portrait fits naturally in a study or bedroom, where its calm presence can be appreciated in moments of reflection.Questions about Wayne (255)
