About this artwork
A single face dominates the frame in Wayne (61), filling the space with quiet authority. The subject’s direct gaze meets ours, creating an immediate connection that draws us in. This is not a portrait that keeps its distance. The palette is restrained, built on soft ochres and muted umbers. Thiebaud’s brushwork is loose yet deliberate, capturing the contours of the face with economy. Shadows play across the features, suggesting depth without dramatic contrast. It’s a study in subtlety, where every mark serves a purpose. This print suits a study or reading nook, where its understated presence complements rather than competes.Questions about Wayne (61)
