About this artwork
A man’s face fills the frame in Wayne Thiebaud’s Wayne. The portrait is direct, almost confrontational, with a gaze that seems to follow you across the room. The painting’s title is as straightforward as the composition itself.
Thiebaud’s brushwork is loose yet controlled, with visible strokes that build the man’s features. The palette is restrained, dominated by earthy tones that ground the image in a quiet intensity. Shadows play across the face, adding depth without drama. There’s a simplicity here, but it’s not simplistic.
This poster suits a study or a den, where its understated presence can hold its own beside books or records.
